"Thor?"

"Yes, Lady (Name)?"

"Have you seen Bucky?"

"…"

"Don't tell me!"

"He has not gone away, I assure you that."

"Then explain the empty bedroom which was right across from where you were sitting?"

The god of thunder kept quiet. He did not want to lie to (Name), but he also did not want to break his promise to the former Winter Soldier.

"I was not sitting here every minute of the past hour or so, Lady. He might have went away when I wasn't present," Thor explained, throwing away the last box of strawberry poptarts.

(Name) sighed, clearly worried and frustrated. "Well, then. Thanks anyway, Thor. I'll see you later."

He huffed out a sigh of relief, and turned his attention to the television. "Oh, I do like this kind of drama!"

"Ah, there you are, (Name)!" Clint Barton peeked out of the training room, and saw his seldom partner disheveled. "How's the new lost in time soldier you have to handle?"

She rolled her eyes, and shot him a glare. "Oh, don't test me, Barton."

He couldn't help but smirk. "Since when were you so mad that our relationship dropped to a last name basis?"

"Shut up. … I lost him!"

"Well, how do you lose a person right under your nose?" He asked, both sarcastically and seriously.

Clint immediately regretted his remark the moment (Name)'s heel connected with his right foot.

"Oh, (Name). Didn't expect to see you here," Natasha greeted her friend as she eyed Clint walking away in pain from the corners of her eyes. "The tower been good?"

"Mmhm. I love it here. Have you seen Barnes around? I kind of, er, lost the guy," she said.

The red-head's eyes widened and shook her head. "No, sorry. Haven't. How did he slip past you, though?"

"I was," the (h/c) paused, her (e/c) eyes hinting signs of embarassment, "well, asleep."

Natasha gave her a smile. "Don't tell Fury that."

"Oh, trust me. I won't. Never in a million years. Wouldn't want to get kicked out of S.H.I.E.L.D. now," she said, returning the smile somewhat half-heartedly.

"Cheer up, (Name). He'll come 'round eventually. He always does."

"Dr. Banner! Ah, I mean Bruce!" (Name) was running towards the scientist who nearly flinched at her voice calling him the former. Then he realized that it wasn't in a mocking tone like usual.

"Oh, hello there, (Name)! Nice to see you this early. Fury sent you to bring me something, or did Stark ask you for a favor?" He tried joking, trying to lighten up her emotion. It wasn't everyday he saw her with a down face.

But to his dismay, she only frowned more. "Neither. Here on my own reasons. Seen a long-haired guy in a normal get-up? Non-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent? Otherwise known as Bucky Barnes? Passed by the lab for some weird reason or what?"

"I'm sorry, (Name) but I haven't seen him. No left note?" He suggested. "Maybe he wanted to tell you that he'd be gone, but you were asleep."

And Bruce saw her smile, as if that solved her problem altogether. "Yeah, thanks, Doc! First decent help of the day. Still counting on that anti-gravity suit!"

"Working on it. Again, don't call me Doc, Agent."

"Don't call me Agent and we'll have a deal." (Name) laughed and punched him lightly on the shoulder, making him chuckle.

"Alright, alright. Fair deal. I'll see you around, then." The greying-haired scientist waved her off and shook his head, wondering how he'd do without a short laugh (Tony's attempts at making a joke were hopeless for Bruce) once in a while.

A knock ringed in the Captain's ears, accompanied by the voice of a close friend, "Steve?"

He stood up from his chair with a smile on his face. (Name) was currently Bucky's—to put into the best term possible—caretaker; she was Steve's too when he first got out of the ice. Steve volunteered for that 'position' for Bucky, but Fury said otherwise. The director thought that it would be better if it were someone not from Bucky's past to avoid any sudden flashback outbursts in public. The super soldier didn't mind; (Name) was terrific at it.

Which meant that the next words she spoke to him made him inhale sharply.

"So, uh, yeah, Steve. Hello," she said quietly, rubbing her hands somewhat nervously. "Bucky's gone. No note in his room nor mine. How about in yours?"

"Wait. Bucky is gone?"

He wanted it to be a cruel joke, but she nodded. "Yeah… No note? Haven't seen him in the tower, no…?"

"No, and no," he let her in and gave her a cup of hot chocolate. "Why would he leave without telling anyone of us? He knows the rules."

She sipped her drink and leaned back on the chair she sat on. "I know, I know. I'm sorry, Steve. Should've kept an eye on him. I was just so tired from all the paperwork Hill assigned me yesterday. I had—"

"It's fine, (Name). I just hope HYDRA isn't on his tail right now. I mean, he's slowly regaining his memories. I don't wanna lose my best friend again."

"I know," was all he heard her say.

Then, after a few moments of silence, Steve looked up and saw her 'Eureka' face, making him raise his eyebrows.

"Ma'am?"

She gave him a quick annoyed face before grinning widely. "I may not have my eyes on Bucky all the time, but Stark does! Well, JARVIS but whatever. Gotta dash, I'll give you a heads up if I find anything."

"I'll catch up with you. I'll check around too, see if I find anything," he said.

(Name) stood up and opened the door. "Again, sorry, Steve. Shouldn't have made you worry on your day off. Especially since it concerns your best friend."

"I guess you're just as worried as I am, and it's your day off too. We're on the same page. Besides, he's become one of your friends too."

She smiled. "I know."

"ANTHONY STARK! I need your help! I could've asked JARVIS right away, but you denied me access. Whatever the hell that means," the high-pitched voice of (Name) reached Tony's ears and he was not happy.

"It's Tony," he said. "…and it's not my fault that that happened. You kind of led yourself to that."

"Sorry, ma'am. Just following protocol," JARVIS' distinct voice echoed in the room.

She looked up, as if to address the AI face-to-face. "It's okay. I don't blame you. I'm a protocol now? When did that happen– nevermind, don't answer that. I came for a different reason."

"Which is?" The billionaire poured some wine into two glasses, one of which he offered to his sort of friend–okay, really friend who just sometimes gets on his nerves, and vice versa, of course. "Wine?"

She raised up a hand to decline. "Nope, not today. I just need access to the surveilliance cameras."

Tony simply smirked. "And for what possible reason, might I ask? This is exactly one of the reasons I restricted your future access–"

"Not that way, Stark! You know I don't deal with those kind of things. This is serious! Barnes is missing," she said. "Alright, I'll take the wine."

He handed her the glass, then jumped onto a squeaky couch. "You're overreacting, (Name). He's a normal person–not exactly normal, he's just got a metal arm–he just probably wanted to explore the outside world. You know, like everyone?"

"I know he wants to do that; I spend almost everyday with him, for Odin's sake. He could've told anyone, you know? So that I wouldn't be this worried."

"See? You are overreacting. Well, JARVIS, pull 'em up. So that we'll get this over with," he said, then about twenty screens appeared in front of them. There were more cameras, of course, but the AI was rather very intelligent (pun intended) to just show the best ones.

(Name) examined all of them, while Tony just continued fixing up some codes, as the facial and fingerprint recognition facets that JARVIS had were ruined.

"Wait, what?" (Name)'s voice broke off the Stark's typing. "Hey, come over here."

Just as Tony made his way to where the screens were stationed, the doors opened and both of them turned to see Steve walking over to them.

"Ah, yes. I was just wondering when you'd show up, Capsicle."

Steve could only maintain the straight face he had.

Tony patted the taller male's back, "Good to see you. Want to join the Find-The-Long-Haired-Assassin Club? It's lots of fun, really."

Captain was about to answer when (Name) suddenly laughed. "Oh, don't you mean Find-The-Short-Haired-Assassin Club?"
First reader insert fic posted. Apologies for the quality, I tried to make it somewhat humorous. I tried.

May or may not include a second part. I only wrote this to see if I did the characters justice. Please tell me what you think! It'd be appreciated!

And I do not own anything, except the plot, because all recognizable characters belong to Marvel and you belong to you!

EDIT: Part two in the works. Actually have two plots in hand, one is an Avengers x Reader all through out while the other one suggests a Bucky x Reader but is generally an Avengers x Reader. I don't know which one to choose! I call for help I think I've fainted. CURSE YOU!
